A New Partnership: Missouri Evergreen
Big news for library cardholders! This spring, we transitioned to a new, and larger, library partner group. This move offers NKCPL cardholders access to more than 2.3 million items--nearly a million more materials than our current partnership--from 40 libraries (and counting!). The new group, called Missouri Evergreen, is backed by the Missouri State Library. To find out what this switch means for you, please check out the sidebar to the right. Patrons who once accessed NKCPL resources using a Kansas City Public Library card will want to take special note. This switch requires Library users to have an NKCPL card (in good standing) in order to access the Library's collection items (print and digital) and library computers. Again, please see the sidebar for more details. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask a staffer!

Missouri Evergreen Catalog Questions
To access your library card account online start by clicking the catalog tab at the top of the page. Then, in the top right corner you will see a "My Account" button. The first time you log in you will use your library card number as your PIN Number or Password. Once logged in you can change your password under "Account Preferences". Here you can also make some neat changes to your account like adding text notifications and creating your own lists!!

Changes on the Lower Level
Now that the City's Parks and Recreation department has moved to their new home (check out their new spot across from Macken Park!), the Library plans to utilize a larger portion of the building's lower level. As part of this usage, some of our collection and technology offerings may shift a bit as we expand to two full-service floors.

We are also excited about the construction of Common Threads, a Makerspace for Sewing and Fabric Arts, here at NKCPL! This space, located on the Library's lower level, houses all the materials you might need to start--or continue--your sewing journey: 12 computerized Janome sewing machines, plus Ott lights, ironing boards and irons, fabric, notions and more. For a complete list of current sewing classes, as well as Open Sew times, click this site's Programs and Events tab.

Here are some pictures of the completed studio. Come sew with us sometime!

We've got 12 machines, plus all the notions you'll need to start your stitching journey! :)

And check out our cozy nook--the perfect space to come knit, crochet, or just take a little breather while you're sewing!

Going, going, gone! (The old carpet, that is!)

It lived a good life (17 years!), but the old carpet had to go! We were so excited, then, to get NEW carpet throughout the building this spring. That project is finally finished--it was a big job!--and we're thrilled with our new look. Stop by and check it out, along with our other recent upgrades, when you get a chance!
