Sew Fun! Check out Common Threads at NKCPL

Want to learn how to sew — but lack access to a machine? Maybe you used to sew but haven’t in awhile, and you could use a refresher to get pointed in the right direction. NKCPL has you covered! Starting this month, the Library is thrilled to offer a range of sewing classes as part of its new (mobile-for-the-moment!) Makerspace initiative, which we’re calling Common Threads. Through Common Threads, the Library will offer sewing instruction (both  technique and project-based), along with ALL the supplies — we’re talking sewing machines, fabric, scissors, and even thread! — that you’ll need to start, or continue, your sewing journey. All for free! For the most current list of Common Threads offerings, and to sign up for classes, click on the Programs and Events tab above. Have questions about a specific class offering, or about the Common Threads project? Contact Amy Brown at abrown@nkcpl.org

This initiative is made possible by, and the Library is so grateful for, generous donations from the North Kansas City Rotary Club and the Friends of North Kansas City Public Library. Financial assistance for this project has also been provided by the Missouri Association of Community Arts Agencies and the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency, with Challenge America funds from the National Endowment of the Arts, who believes that a great nation deserves great art.
