Sew Fun: Come stitch with us at Common Threads!

It’s official — and we’re so excited! Common Threads, NKCPL’s new makerspace/studio for sewing, is open, and we’re poised to start stitching up a storm!  Whether you’re learning to sew or looking for a community of folks to stitch alongside, Common Threads has you covered. Here, the Library offers sewing instruction and all the supplies — machines, fabric, scissors, even thread! — that you’ll need to start or (resume) your sewing journey. All for free! We’ll also be offering Open Sew sessions so that you can even use the space during non-instructional time. Keep your eyes on this space for info about these hours (coming soon), and about upcoming Common Threads classes! Have questions about the Common Threads project? Contact Amy Brown at abrown@nkcpl.org

This initiative is made possible by, and the Library is so grateful for, generous donations from the North Kansas City Rotary Club and the Friends of North Kansas City Public Library. Financial assistance for this project has also been provided by the Missouri Association of Community Arts Agencies and the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency, with Challenge America funds from the National Endowment of the Arts, who believes that a great nation deserves great art.
