Have you ever wanted to learn to sew or improve the skills you already have? The Library has you covered! NKCPL has had an in-house sewing studio since 2018, thanks to a seed grant from the NKC Rotary Club and the support of our Friends of the Library organization. We currently have 12 computerized sewing machines, a serger, and an embroidery machine.
NKCPL offers a handful of project-based sewing classes each month. The room is often available for use outside of class time as well.
In the past, we've offered home dec sewing classes (make your own throw pillows, blankets, and dish towels), seasonal/holiday sewing classes (make your own stockings, for example), and accessory sewing classes (make your own purses, bags, headbands, eyeglass cases, etc.). We've even ventured into the world of basic garment sewing.
Want to enroll in a project class, or use the sewing room on your own? You’ll just need to complete the Library’s Introduction to the Janome Sewing Machine course, which is offered monthly.
